When should I use?
Alcohol-Based Hand Sanitizer
• Before and after visiting a friend or a loved one in a hospital or nursing home, unless the person is sick with Clostridium difficile (if so, use soap and water to wash hands).
• If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, and wash with soap and water as soon as you can.
* Do NOT use hand sanitizer if your hands are visibly dirty or greasy: for example, after gardening, playing outdoors, or after fishing or camping (unless a handwashing station is not available). Wash your hands with soap and water instead.
What to prevent?
Some hand sanitizer gels may not produce this effect due to a high concentration of water or moisturizing agents causes hand sticky.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are classified as Class I Flammable Liquid substances, which means they have a flash point of less than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Hand sanitizer vapors can be flammable.
How to use?
1. Make sure all organic matter is removed from hands.
All visible organic matter (for example: dirt) must be removed from hands prior to applying hand sanitizer.
2. Spray a dime sized amount of hand sanitizer to the palm of one hand or use a waterless hand sanitizer wipe.
3. Rub hands together covering all surfaces of hands and fingers.
4. Rub until the hand sanitizer is absorbed.
